easter at our house

So Easter happend.  That was good.

We did the whole shebang. Big dinner, egg hunt etc. etc. etc.. The food was to die.  Ate too much.

We have several days throughout the year that we give our kids carte blanche regarding candy. Easter is one of them.  They love it. It makes for a very exciting day usually ending with crying hateful children.  This is parenthood as we know it.

I tried to get a photo of The Boy before he shed his prescribed Easter outfit, but the kid was on a veritable hummingbird sugar high.  All photos were a blur.

Birdie and Frankie had special Easter outfits made for them by my good friend Jen Vu.  Jen and I have the exact same taste in almost everything.  So when she sews my children something I know it will be something that I would have dreamed up in my own  head.  Love having a friend like that.

She embroidered their initials on them.  You know how I love monograms.  They will go in their keepsake boxes when they outgrow them.

This is Jen. She's a keeper.

Hope your Easter was nice.

I'm off to Houston today to start a new project. I'm pretty excited about this one.

Details are coming.

happy makers

Don't you just love the great big thirty-six inch balloons?  They just scream happy. Happy, happy, happy. No fighting or poopy diapers or stubbed toes. Just happy.

I knew there was something I could do with one other than just skip around and, you know, be happy.

And yes, indeed, there was.

A pink hot air balloon to float your easter basket? I say yes to that.

Photos were taken by my good friend Kelly at Bubba-Loo Photography. Check her out.

There are more fun Easter ideas on the SPARK blog today too.

the course ahead

On Friday we are boarding a plane to Utah. We have several items of business to take care of while we are there.

First and foremost, we will get to meet our birth mother face to face. I am so excited and nervous I don't know what to do with myself. I am searching for the perfect outfit that says "I will make a great mom for your baby". Tell me, what does that look like exactly? If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Please note that Lee jeans and Rockport shoes are out of the question. As are scrunchies, most sweater vests and any item with a Disney character on it.

Second, my father will be turning sixty-three. I swear he is more active now than he was at nineteen, when this photo is taken. His hairline hasn't changed a bit, but he only has a few black hairs left. His left ear still sticks out a little and we girls of the family think it is charming. Happy Birthday Daddy-O.

And then of course, there is Easter. Hopefully this year Thom will lighten up his game a bit and let some of the younger kids find an egg or two. Last year was a little embarrassing. I'd like to find a good recipe for hot cross buns to make for Sunday dinner and a really great tie for Sugar Daddy.

Today I should be getting the wash done and looking for a kennel for Finn, but instead I am going to the beach to play in the sand with my ladybug. There is not that much time left. . .

easter sunday

On the way home from church today, we asked Thomas what he had learned in Sunday school about Easter. He said, "I learned that the wicked people stapled Jesus to the cross."

As for design Sunday, I would like to plug my new favorite t-shirt company. Sugar Daddy doesn't know this yet, but the Easter Bunny brought me one.

Gypsy 05 is a Los Angeles based clothing company owned and run by a brother and sister. They do a lot of tie dye and grunge type designs.
