The above photo has nothing to do with this post. It's simply a gratuitous photo of my gorgeous little girl. I like to throw in a photo of her every now and then to remind everyone how absolutely breathtakingly beautiful she really is. Again, adopted. I am allowed to brag like this.
Now I would like to discuss the price of grapefruit.
Grapefruit is currently a dollar a piece. A piece. Just what is going on here? I'm thinking the government needs to look into price fixing. Just when I was getting used to paying a dollar a piece for avocados, when I only live a stone's throw from the avocado growing capital of the world mind you, they lay this on me.
Just how am I supposed to have Christmas without grapefruit? It's like the old stories where the orphans only get an orange for Christmas. Maybe I will buy all my kids a grapefruit for their stocking. That's how we will afford to have it for breakfast.

If you can afford it.
P.S. I'm finding it very odd that I just wrote a blog post entirely on grapefruit but I'm gunna go with it. It's a good way to start your week and you never know, I might start a movement that ends in an expose' of the criminal workings of citrus growers.

This is out of your way...but there is a Fruit Market on Morena near the Costco in San Diego and grapefruits are 3/$1...I agree there is something weird going on with produce prices at regular grocery stores in Southern California.
Avocados at the fruit stand are 10/$2 - they are little ones but they are locally grown. Big avocados are 3/$1. It is not far from Mission Bay/Sea World if you ever venture that far south.
I'm right there with ya on the outrageous cost of food in general...wouldn't it be nice to rewind back 20 years ago when food and gas where affordable...your daughter is so pretty, those eyes!!
Not to be a doomsdayer but start watching all the prices rise. A bunch of major clothing stores Gap included said that they were going to have to raise prices in the coming month because the cost of cotton has gone up. Blame the government, the devaulation of the dollar due to the stimulus and letting go of the gold standard to back the US dollar bla bla bla. The bottom line is my grocery bill is more and it stinks.
I'm going to forward this post to my daughter. She LIVES for grapefruit, but while in Idaho, she is living WITHOUT grapefruit because it is cost prohibitive there. I shall put a grapefruit in her stocking Christmas morning and there will be joy!
Thanks, and no it's not odd.
Love this post! Too funny. Yes, everything is going up, up, up!! It's maddening. I adore the picture of your baby girl...she is breathtaking.
