cloudy with a chance of blogging

The sky broke open and the rain is coming down. It is dark and quiet in my house. The baby is nestled down under the covers in her crib. I'm listening to Lissie while I work in my art room. The hound dog is sleeping at my feet and he only stirs to lift his head when the dryer buzzes.

I started to work on an article that I was asked to write about infertility, but I decided a rainy day isn't conducive to the hopeful feeling I wish to convey.

What does one say the infertile?

What is there to say anyway?

Why is rain inherently sad when it should be just the opposite? Rain makes everything grow. It gives life.

Today I want to think about rolling green fields, not barren wastelands.

rain

Good writing is supposed to evoke sensation in the reader - not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon. - E. L. Doctorow

How do I describe to you how I feel? I never realized how parched I was. I didn't realize that my soul felt dry and fragile. I was happy. I was wishing, but content. I had Sugar Daddy and Thom. Things were okay.

But now it is raining. And my soul is soaking up each new day with a thirst like no other.

We got a video of the baby's heartbeat yesterday. She is nestled, safe in her loving mother's care until she ready to come to our waiting arms.

I am going to spend the weekend with family. Tomorrow we girls will make art all day until we are dizzy. We will talk about life and new babies and how the Lord works in mysterious ways.

I'll meet you back here on Monday.

Ben: Thom you will have so many things to teach your little sister when she comes.

Thom: (Thoughtful for a little bit) Dad, I'm gunna need a chalkboard.

rainy days and mondays always get me thinking

One rainy weekend produced:
Letters to Grandma and Grandpa.

Passalong cards for our adoptive parent profile.

And two embroidered onesies for a friend having a baby girl in a week or so.

If you are willing to pass out a few passalong cards, please email me and I'll send some to you.

just watch this

Cold and rainy here. The whole family has been rolling around in the sheets of our bed in the grey light of the wintry day, cuddling and giggling. Thom wins the prize for the best blanket monster and also the stinkiest breath.
This is neat:

going, going, gone

I woke up today to thunder. I am yet to see any rain, but I am hopeful. I think a little comfort food on a rainy day is just what the doctor ordered.

Rosie is headed home to her busy collage life. We always feel a little down when guests leave. The house gets a little quieter and we all look at each other as if we had just gotten bad news.
