winter moon

Thanksgiving is over. The flood gates are open people.

Christmas music will fill my house until December 26th.  My husband doesn't understand it. I can't say I really understand why I love Christmas music so much.

I guess if I really think about it, I'd have to say that music has a huge impact on my life. It sets the tone. It can cure a nasty mood. It can make me cry. It can lift me out of myself into higher realms.

It makes it feel like Christmas.

And here I am with a good friend like Mindy Gledhill who just released an entire Christmas album.

Well shucks. That just makes the whole season more merry.

Do you know much about Mindy? She's lovely.

Mindy and I have done projects together here and there. I did illustrations on her Anchor music video. She has sung at Spark the last two years. She came to my house and did a concert in my backyard for a benefit party. And then there is Morocco next year. That's going to be, well, a dream.

I have a Winter Moon album to give away to kick off the giving season!  Leave a comment, and your favorite Christmas song (I'm building this year's play list and I'd like new songs). I'll pick a random number on Friday and ship it out to you!

I've heard about this album and it sounds delightful! My favorite religious Christmas song is What Child is This, but I love any Christmas songs sung by Dean Martin.

I think my favorite Christmas song is We Wish You a Merry Christmas, but only the Weezer version. It's so unexpected to hear guitars set to Christmas music, but I swear I could listen to that song all day every day (and it's only like one minute long). But mostly I just looove any kind of Christmas music. We listened to Christmas music for 5 hours yesterday. It was awesome.

O Holy Night. It was my grandma's favorite too. We wanted to play it at her funeral but it was not excatly Christmas time so we thought it might be funny.

I listened to the previews on iTunes of Winter Moon and I'll have to add that to my collection of Christmas music. As for my favorite Christmas songs, I love the BYU Mens Chorus version of Betelehemu (a Nigerian Christmas carol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z78xS9mxcgA) and I also love the whole Sufjan Steven's Songs for Christmas album. I love all Christmas music - bring on the best season of the year!

I can't say that I have any one favorite Christmas song. I'm a big Elvis fan so his Christmas Albums make me sing (I'm a big sing-along-er) but then I'm also a big fan of the Transsiberian Orchestra.

what a lovely giveaway, thanks April! my fave christmas son is "oh come all ye faithful" the Mariah Carey and Patricia Carey version. Have you heard it? It's perfection, Mariah and her mom, doesn't get any better, I love x-mas music too and I am sure Mindy's album is divine :)

Favorite has got to be The 12 days of Christmas by Straight No Chaser, makes me giggle every time. Love to add Mindy's songs to my playlist. I've had the music on for a month now!

Hark, the Herald Angels Sing! And I agree, since you can't play Christmas carols year-round, play them as much as possible for 30 days :)

I do adore Mindy Gledhill oh so much and would positively die if I won this...(I no longer live close to any where I can purchase this-sad day to me)!! My favorite Christmas tune? Right now, probably Michael Buble's version of "Jingle Bells"...there's just a lovely nostalgic feeling of the fifties when you listen to it!! I love chiming in at the beginning as the back up singers say in such beautiful unison "Merry Christmas Mr. Buble"! I die! Haha!
Fantastic giveaway!

Yay for a fabulous Mindy giveaway! She's so lovely!! My favorite Christmas song is, "White Christmas."

I saw she had a new album and have heard bits and pieces and want to get a copy. I love Chris Martin from Coldplay's rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". Maybe you can add that to your list. Merry Christmas!

I LOVE music. My favorite Christmas song is Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel. And Mindy Gledhill is great!

I, too, love Christmas music. One of my Christmas albums is A Toolbox Christmas...all of the carols are played on "instruments" from a woodworker's workshop. It's hilarious! I also love the Schooner Fare Home for the Holidays album.

Thanks for the chance to win Mindy's new album!

I have loved Mindy's music ever since I was lucky enough to hear it in your backyard last year. In fact, I often tell others of her music "she is great! she can sing better live than most people can sing with all of the remixing possible". I know at least one other person who has downloaded her tunes from iTunes.

My favorite Christmas music as well and I love Joy To The World and O' Come Emmanuel. Kent actually joined a professional caroling group this year (yes, English period costumes and all) so my favorite pieces also tend to be whatever he (and his group) are singing.

You have to listen to "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" by Vocal Point. It's my new all-time favorite!!!

I love All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey. Also heard that Michael Buble's version is dreamy.

My all time favorite Christmas song is by Bing Crosby, "White Christmas" but a second runner up is "Blue Christmas" by Elvis. My list could be ginormous.

I would love to win a give-a-way. Thanks.

The Holly and the Ivy.

It's why my husband married me (and no, I won't go into details). We courted at Christmas time, and I even made him a nutcracker painted with bits of holly and bits of ivy to commemorate our time of falling in love.

I'm headed over to iTunes to check her out! Thanks--I'm always needing new Christmas music.

I have always been fond of "Little Drummer Boy"...it reminds me of the matching outfits my cousin I would have to wear.

I love all Christmas music, but I have to say one of my favorites is "Mary Did You Know" sung by Mark Lowry, the author of the song. Many people have recorded this, but I think he does it the best b/c he wrote it and you can tell he feels his lyrics when he sings. Merry Christmas!

I'm a big fan of Wham!s "Last Christmas" and all of the various covers of that song. Thanks a bunch for this giveaway! :)

Although not really a Christmas song per se (though it's from a holiday album) is "Winter Song" by Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson. Breathtakingly beautiful. Knowing of your affinity for Mindy, I guarantee you'd love it.

As for actual Christmas music, I like pretty much anything from Sarah McLachlan's Wintersong album, Josh Groban's Noel album, and the new She & Him Christmas album.
