as we are

We took a bunch of photos last Saturday. I thought maybe we'd be able to get one to use for our Christmas cards.

There wasn't one single photo where everyone is looking at the camera smiling.

But this photo here. Well, it is probably the one I should send. It captures us as we really are. Fuzz head Frankie is happy, doing just what he is supposed to be doing for all his eight months of life.  Birdie is throwing a temper tantrum. The boy is off in Never Neverland. I have plastered on a fake smile, but the strain shows through my eyes and the grit of my teeth. And the Sugar Daddy. Well, he's rolling with the punches, a little less bothered by the chaos. Trying to keep us all happy.

We're a rag tag bunch of hooligans.

This is us as we are today. Tomorrow might bring big changes. I like to say: you never know what's around the corner. My children could turn into perfect angels.

It could happen.

Please say it could happen.

I love this photo so much more than any other Christmas family photo I've seen. It's perfect. And I got your text about Frankie throwing up on the altar. So hilarious!

I do love that picture! You know, you could charge people to take their holiday card photos in front of your mantle... we'd do it!

This is great! I, too, think you should send this one out. I would LOVE it if I got a holiday picture like this from someone. I haven't even bothered to try for a picture this year. I don't think I have a single picture since my third was born that has all five of us even remotely facing in the direction of the camera. I think I'll have someone take our pictures and send the most comic one out. Thanks for the idea!!

It's fantastic. Send it out.

And, Ugh, about your question. Hmmmmm-- I think not. At least not the one bent over backward.

I have never had a family photo in all of my 15 1/2 years of marriage....so sad for me.

My hubby and I laugh each year as we receive the "Best Of" moments newsletters from our friends and their picture perfect, straight A, mensa member, Einstein prodigy children. I say send this one. It's realistic. You're not putting a show on to the world. Girl, you're keeping it real. I gotta admit, the cutest pic that we got this year we're all facing different directions enjoying a private laugh.
Own it! Love it! and when you're kids are old enough to have kids of their own... make sure you've post it proudly on your mantel so they are all reminded not to take life too seriously. I think Sugar Daddy has the right idea... Roll with it. LOL You are blessed. Enjoy!

They'll be angels, you'll just never get a photo of it! Love this one though, perfectly real.

Very real picture - you all look great . My kids never look at the camera either at the same time - and for awhile I stopped having their pics taken - and then 1 day , I just said I will get them there - and if they act up - Oh well , I have proof "I tried " and they choose to be little boogers and not look at the camera :)
Your blog is such an inspiration to read - thank you for sharing
