somezing stronge

Somezing Fishy

"Sometimes I say to myself, 'Enry, waz es going on ere? Somezing stronge indeed."

Meet Henry's alter ego, The Inspector.  He's a people watcher, that Henry.  And a very easy baby, thank the good Lord above, amen.

Henry is our little surprise. The bonus. The caboose.

Funny how you are going along and you think your life is full, but there is something huge waiting for you just around the corner.

Sometimes that something isn't so great.

And then sometimes its a squishy bundle of easy baby.  I tell you folks, this boy is everything that is right in the world all wrapped up in the softest skin you've ever felt.  Skin that is very, very fun to blow raspberries on, if I do say so.

I was rocking Henry while he slept. He started laughing. He laughed so hard he woke himself up. I wish I could see that again everyday for the rest of my life.

P.S. I just want to add that if you are reading this, and you are a girl hoping and waiting for a baby, I have two things I want to say specifically to you. First, all of my babies were that something huge waiting around the corner. I have spent years yearning for my babies. Your corner is out there.  But until you turn the corner, enjoy the road.  Second, I am convinced that the joy and gratitude I feel as a mother is in direct correlation to the pain I endured in childlessness. Things always taste better when you are hungry. Everybody knows that.

How cute! When were in the process of adopting my brother, his mother told us she had a *surprise* for us on his last visit with her. When we arrived she was 9 months pregnant! My mom looked at me and said "I don't know if we can handle another baby?". Ronald was only a year old and she asked us if we would take this baby when it was born. Nine days later ELizabeth was born, deaf and beautiful as ever! We proudly took her home from the hospital and loved every minute of our *surprise*! Sometimes unexpected surprises are the BEST!!

From a girl hoping for a baby, thank you for this :) Sometimes on this long, hard road it feels like there is never going to be that corner. Thanks for helping me remember that there WILL be.

I too am a girl waiting. I have been blessed to adopt a little girl of my own but my soul still hungers for more.

Thank you for your post April. I will be waiting, STARVING, but waiting...

Thank you for your last paragraph. My dear friend has just lost another precious fetus. My heart breaks for her and I find myself at a loss for words. I will share this with her-I feel like these words are made for her. Blessings...

Love how you described waiting for children, things are better when you're hungry, and sometimes we just have to wait. Took me 10 yrs to have my twins, the best things are worth waiting for! And in that time of waiting (I had periods of great sadness), my husband and I got a lot of time to explore and be together.

Having just discovered your blog I don't know your whole story but I just couldn't walk away from this post without giving your a huge "Amen, sister!" My hubby and I waited 15 yrs for our family to go from two to three. We had all but given up when we finally got turned the corner. We may never have the opportunity to have a our family grow to a count of four but what a wonderful addition our son has been to our family.

I tell friends your story all the time. And sometimes strangers. It has such a happy surprise, doesn't it?

I will surely have to come to one of your shows so we can meet in real life and I will feel like less of a stalker.
